NZ EICHARDT’S PRIVATE LUXURY HOTEL
By Jim Flynn
Eichardt’s Private Hotel is the Grand Dame of Queenstown and is the place to stay.
The location is unique, the view is picture-postcard perfect and the rooms are generously sized and sumptuously appointed. You can choose between staying in the main building, which was originally an 1860s woolshed, or a selection of larger apartments a stone’s throw away. Both will leave you wanting a late checkout.
The Grille restaurant serves up relaxed and classic French excellence and Otago’s stunning pinot noirs are under an hour away. Eichardt’s own label house pinot is also a joy if you don’t want to leave your luxurious confines. The feeling of old-world sophistication and top-class aesthetic would put many an English country manor to shame.
If you are planning a jaunt in Fiordland then Eichardt’s Private Hotel is the ideal casual, elegant and beautiful bookend.
